Department of Homeland Security

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is an arm of the executive branch of the U.S. government responsible for keeping America safe.  USCIS and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) both function within the Department of Homeland Security. DHS responsibilities include:

• Immigration enforcement and administration
• Terrorism prevention
• Management of critical infrastructure risk
• Cyberspace security
• National disaster resilience
