Immigration Lawyer Chicago/ Resources/ Video Library/ Hilary Chadwick
I was really interested in women’s rights and in the anti-trafficking movement and I saw mentors of mine who were skilled attorneys be able to obtain really tangible benefits for survivors of trafficking with their law degrees. And so that’s really what motivated me to pursue law, especially immigration law.
My mom is and was a pediatrician, and she worked in pediatric infectious disease. I saw her really help mold how society thought and understood HIV and AIDS, and I think that seeing that modeled probably also motivated me to be in an advocacy and counseling role.
In one of my first cases after law school, I was representing a detained survivor of sex trafficking who had been convicted of a crime because of the ways her trafficker forced her to work. I will never forget when we had her relief granted before the immigration judge, and she was released from detention. It was a really life-changing moment for her.
My name is Hillary Chadwick. I’m an associate attorney with Scott D. Pollock & Associates.
